Community KitchenThe San Antonio Food Bank Community Kitchen program is an innovative and exciting way to train the unemployed, feed the hungry, and generate public support and revenue through social enterprise. The most common reason that adults are forced to rely on food pantries to meet their nutritional needs are a lack of job training and the inability to find sustainable employment that pays a living wage. The Community Kitchen Culinary Training Program addresses hunger by providing economically disadvantaged adults with the job skills they need to achieve self-sufficiency. Since 2003, the Community Kitchen has fought hunger in Southwest Texas while using a workforce of volunteers and others looking to further themselves in a promising culinary career.
